Father's Day Reflections

Father's Day Reflections

Posted by Cliff Korte on Jun 9th 2024

Father's Day means so many things to so many people. It's a little odd to me because my father wasn't a family man. For me being able to actually enjoy my family is something special. I have always loved archery and when my son (Otto) asked me to teach him how to shoot, I felt like I was on cloud 9. Passing down information and skills to him is amazing to be able to see and help him grow.

Otto started shooting when he was 7 and we slowly upgraded his equipment when we could. We started shooting different tournaments around us, then we went to 1 of the biggest indoor tournaments in America (The Lancaster Classic) in January of 2023 for the first time. I was the only 1 in the family shooting that tournament but it was amazing walking around and watching Otto talk to all the vendors and really know what he was talking about. In December of 2023 we both competed in the Midwest Open in Springfield, Illinois and Otto took 2nd place with his hunting setup.

Then we went to Lancaster again and we both shot in it. This was Otto's first year shooting in such a huge tournament and he did great, wasn't too nervous and was able to finish in the top 10 with that same hunting bow. In 2024 we continued to compete in different tournaments all around. This year we decided to try the ASA tournament's and went to London, KY. It was so much fun spending with my family. I'm overwhelmed with the different emotions and excitement to see what the future brings in fun and excitement.
